Barry and Pete on stage with Paul Jones

Hello Harmonica-lovers!

I’m writing to you from Hillscourt near Rednal, Birmingham at the close of our annual Harmonica Festival 2022. We’ve had a fantastic weekend, full of excellent music, workshops and fellowship.

So, some news hot off the press! Our next two ambassadors have been announced, world-class musicians Sarah Saputri and Cy Leo. Rock School London, a music exam board that have students across the World, have awarded Sarah and Leo, along with our existing ambassadors Sam Spranger and Rachelle Plas, with an Honorary Rock School Diploma.

Pete Hewitt has now been appointed as a HarmonicaUK Patron, his main project being the Ambassadors. Gene Myers, Andrew Hardy and Dave Colclough have joined the Committee.

Last weekend Pete Hewitt and I were invited to a Manfred’s gig as guests of Paul Jones, our President, where not only were we treated to an excellent evening of hits, jazz and blues, Pete got up on stage after the interval with Norton York of Rock School, and presented Paul with an award, a Fellowship of Rock School, to honour his contribution to the harmonica and British music.

Full details of all the above will be appearing in the next issue of Harmonica World. We are now fired up and are already thinking about our next major event, our Chromatic Weekend in 2023.

Happy Harping!

Barry
