Well hello everyone and a very warm welcome from all of us in the Communications Team and HarmonicaUK. I apologize for my absence, but I must say, I'm mighty glad to be back working with you all again and for the good of our wonderful charity.
Newsdesk has been closed for a while during my convalescence, but I'm really happy to say it's being worked on as we speak, so keep an eye on our website Newsdesk and events pages for upcoming occurrences.
So without delay, let me kick off with details about an amazing Saturday session - I'm so excited to announce we are hosting the one and only Joe Filisko with a workshop titled "Foundations and Fundamentals." One not to miss, all HarmonicaUK members are welcome, so come along and join Dave, our Chair, and myself, and of course the amazing Joe Filisko at 5 pm UK time on the 10th of February.
Our very popular Open Mic is being held on the 3rd of February at 5 pm UK time. Everyone is welcome, including friends, family, beginners to professionals. We also accommodate anxious or nervous players, just let us know by contacting the Newsdesk email before the session occurs at: [email protected]. Really looking forward to seeing you all there.
I hope everyone has been enjoying our wonderful coffee mornings, hosted by Dave Hambley - all subjects discussed, even harmonica sometimes! So come along and join Dave and the others every Friday morning at 11 am UK time for a really relaxed chat and virtual coffee with like-minded friends from HarmonicaUK.

Joe Filisko Saturday Session

The Saturday Session Workshops kick off this year with none other than the fantastic Joe Filisko!
On Saturday 10th February at 5 pm UK time, come and join us for this members only hour-long zoom session concentrating on fundamentals and foundations on the diatonic harmonica.
Joe, based in Chicago, is not only a world-famous performer and teacher but is also one of the most respected customisers in the harmonica world.
This session is a must for all serious harmonica players!

We are so pleased to announce the dates for our annual festival in October this year, at Hills Court, Birmingham.
So, grab your diaries and block out the 25th to the 27th of October 2024.

Membership Renewals
We are coming up to the time when the bulk of membership renewals are due. Before we moved to the new online system, some members paid by bank Standing Order or repeating PayPal payments.
We are currently experiencing a high volume of payment duplications, where people with existing repeat paypal payments have also renewed by credit card. As duplicate payments and refunds incurr an administration fee that we have to pay, we have taken the decision to cancel all outstanding PayPal subscriptions that are unpaid.
We apologise for the short notice and for any inconvenience caused by this. If you are unable to renew via the website, you can still renew by PayPal as a one-off payment and as a last resort. Please email [email protected] if this affects you and we will make the appropriate arrangements. No members will miss the upcoming edition of the magazine as a result of this decision.

We are still desperately looking for help in the running of our charity. Without volunteers, there would be no harmonicaUK, and we are all being stretched to the absolute limit at the moment. Please, if you have an hour or more to spare a week, could you consider giving it to us? We are a happy & friendly team, all working hard for the organization.
