Project Sounds was created with well-being in mind. Its aim is to support people with their physical and mental wellbeing, lung health and cognitive clarity, all through the power of music. Based in Northamptonshire, they offer a range of classes in singing and harmonica. All sessions are devised and led by Chris Startup, a professional musician and BLF Certified Singing Lung Health Practitioner.
Chris Startup of Project Sounds initially began teaching singing in Northampton to help people living with conditions such as COPD, bronchiectasis, asthma and emphysema.
At the end of 2017 he started a Harmonica for Lung Health group, Harmonica 4 Breathing. Using his existing knowledge and skills, he developed sessions that incorporate similar breathing principles buy applying them to harmonica playing. The response from the participants was overwhelmingly positive with people joining online from all over the UK.
