HarmonicaUK player of the year competition

Saturday 16th October 2021 saw the winners of the HarmonicaUK player of the year contest announced. The contest judge David Beer commented that the competition was of a very high standard this year with some superb entries. Due to it being a virtual festival this year participants were asked to send in recordings or videos of up to four minutes. David Beer offered all of the contestant’s advice on their playing before announcing the winners.

Junior Harmonica Player of the Year was 14-year-old Maristella Pantone.

Harmonica Player of the year saw Raquel Vega and Robert Ivačič tie for third place.

Russ Turner and Paul Appleton finished in joint second.

Overall winner was announced as Rowena Millar, whose first harmonica award was Young Harmonica Player of the Year in 1982, judged by Larry Adler – what a good call.

Well done to all of our winners and to everybody who took part.
