Hi again everyone, and a very warm welcome to our Summer newsletter, covering August and September.

I’m pleased to say that we are now writing a small item on our website each week with a summary of what was discussed during our coffee morning and any links listed which might be handy for your future reference. So far, we have had positive feedback, so I hope you continue to enjoy! Our very popular coffee morning is a chance to chat with fellow Harmonica enthusiasts of all ages, and anyone is welcome, non-players as well as players. Pop in and see what it’s all about, every Friday morning starting at 11 am. Links below

Maybe you might like to try your hand at playing in our open mic?! No matter if you play three notes or take five!! Everyone is supportive, friendly and we have lots of fun.

We have had lots of changes going on within HarmonicaUK and I would like to thank you for your patience in waiting for this newsletter. Also, October Festival details have gone live on our website, events page and social media! There are lots of announcements and surprises which will take place over the festival weekend but just take a look at the fantastic lineup of artists that we have performing for us this year! Places are limited, so I encourage you to book your place as soon as possible. All of us from the communications team look forward to seeing you there.

That’s all folks!!

A message from the Vice-Chair

It's been a very busy couple of months at HarmonicaUK, we've been planning the October Festival, and have a great lineup of artists and workshop leaders. I'd encourage you all to book a place and come along, it's going to be a fantastic event. We have our annual AGM on the Friday evening, where we need as many members as possible to come along, as we have to have a minimum number of voters to be able to vote all the officers in etc.. Some of the committee are leaving due to retirement and personal circumstances, so we will be celebrating their contribution to HarmonicaUK, and also welcoming some new committee members.

Notice of Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of HarmonicaUK (formerly National Harmonica League) will be held at 7pm on Friday 21st October 2022 at Hillscourt, Rose Hill, Lickey, Birmingham B45 8RS during our October Festival.

AGENDA

  • Welcome
  • Minutes of the previous AGM and matters arising
  • Reports and accounts
  • Proposed amendment(s) to the constitution
  • (Re)election of committee members: Richard Taylor, Phil Leiwy, Barbara Tate, Simon Joy, Barry Elms, Suzy Colclough
  • Member proposed resolutions
  • Any other business

If you are unable to attend the meeting, please appoint the Chair as your proxy by emailing [email protected] before 19th October 2022.

Please see www.harmonica.uk/pages/agm-documents for copies of papers for the AGM, including previous minutes, reports and accounts, draft amendments to the constitution, and brief profiles of existing and proposed committee members. In addition, there is a proxy voting form and a committee member nomination form.

There are at least three committee vacancies so please consider whether you would like to stand yourself or nominate someone to carry out this valuable work. The main committee meets online about 6 times per annum and you will also be part of a subcommittee. A minimum commitment of 2 hours per week is expected. We are also seeking helpers, so please express an interest if you have expertise in events management, digital technology, graphic design, education, youth work, outreach or administration. Contact [email protected] for an informal discussion.

I hope to see you at the October Festival,

Barry
